Hauling water is not uncommon in many parts of Arizona. Typically, these hauled water systems are used for homes that are not connected to either a city/private water system or private well.
What is hauled water system
The basic components of the systems are a storage tank, a pump, and a pressure tank. This system can then supply water to the home with the water pressure that equivalent to homes that are on a municipal or private water system.
The storage tanks can sit either above or below ground, and require filling on a regular basis depending upon the water use habits of the home. The Homeowner establishes an account with one of local water hauling companies to schedule the regular deliveries of the water. Rates vary depending on location, and there is usually no shortage of water hauling services in areas requiring hauled water.
Most all of today’s water hauling companies have a monitor that is installed on each tank to measure water usage. The sensor sends a signal to the water company when the system gets to a certain level so the water company can schedule a delivery.

The system will be installed during construction with the price included in the sale of the home. Once the system is installed, the buyer will then have to factor in the water delivery costs moving forward. Typical water delivery costs can range from $70 for 2,000 gallons, to $130 for 3,500 gallons.
Water usage scenario
The average water usage per person is 80 – 100 gallons per day. Depending on the Homeowner’s habits, water usage for the home typically ranges from 250 – 450 gallons per day. Once you have an account set up with a particular water hauling company, they can usually monitor the homes average usage of water so the homeowner can plan accordingly.
