Multi Generations Homes

Multi Generations Homes – 3 Generation Under One Roof

Multi-generational house concept, a concept that has grown from some recently staggering statistics that show increased numbers of adult children moving home and baby boomers retiring. According to a Pew Research Center analysis of the latest U.S. Census Bureau data, approximately 51 million Americans, or 16.7 percent of the population, live in a house with at least two adult generations, or a grandparent and at least one other generation, under one roof. The Pew analysis also reported a 10.5 percent increase in multi-generation households from 2007 to 2009. And a 2012 survey by national home builder Pulte Group found that 32 percent of adult children expect to eventually share their house with a parent.

Multi-generational living isn’t the only reason to consider the purchase of a home with a guest house or casita. They’re also great for earning a little extra income with a renter who doesn’t have to share your main home. Separate living space also gives caretakers a convenience on-site home with plenty of privacy. They even make great retreats for extended stay guests or teens and young adults who need a little more private space.

In Arizona, multi-generational homes design comes with separate guest quarters or casitas. Guest houses and casitas design are typically separated from the main house to provide their own space and amenities, like a bedroom, bathroom, and kitchen.

Builders with Multi Generations Home Design Option

Lennar’s Next Gen Homes
Lennar’s Next Gen – The Home Within a Home – offers a floor plan that caters to homeowners with adult children or elderly parents who want to live in the same household as their relatives without sacrificing privacy or convenience. Next Gen’s concept is two houses attached into one: The main home has three or four bedrooms, and there’s an attached unit (typically one-fifth the size of the main house) with its own front entrance, kitchen, bedroom, living space and garage. You can use it as an office when your kids are young. You can use it as a teen room when they get older. Then when your parents are older, they can come and live with you. Perfect for an aging parent (or lucky nanny or guest, or as a man cave). An adjoining inner door can be left open so the house can be one big home or, when closed, two residences.

Richmond American – Modern Living collection
Richmond American has introduced its Modern Living collection throughout the valley as a solution for multi-generational living. The new multi generational floor plan options offer homeowners all the space of a traditional home, plus a separate “suite” that may even include a kitchenette and private living room for extended family members or guests. The guest suites feature a kitchenette consisting of a refrigerator, wet bar sink, and optional microwave.

Maracay – New Arizona Living Collection
Maracay features its New Arizona Living Collection in response to the request for multi-generational housing. Homes with attached and detached multi generational suites from Maracay Homes’ New Arizona Living Collection redefine what it means to have multiple generations (or even a few guests) together under one roof. Thoughtfully crafted designs include separate spaces for living, eating and sleeping that provide just the right amount of connectivity to the main part of the home without sacrificing privacy. Not just a bedroom and a bathroom, these Maracay homes offer a separate owner’s entry, stackable washer and dryer, and a kitchenette providing a loved one the independence they need without feeling disconnected from the family.
